The Meikleour Arms, once known as the Meikleour Hotel Fishing Lodge, has been caring for anglers in some way or another for nearly 200 years.
We are conveniently close to the Lower and Middle Tay beats and it is on our estate that the River Isla joins the Tay – a stretch that is celebrated as offering some of the most exciting spring salmon fishing in the UK. We own and manage salmon fishing on Meikleour and Upper Islamouth, giving a superlative fishing experience to all anglers, whatever their ability. Our salmon fishing beat has twice appeared in the popular TV program “Gone Fishing“, a testament to our laid-back warm welcome and fabulous setting. We regularly run fly-fishing courses for groups or individuals and can happily organise bespoke packages for an unforgettable fishing holiday in Perthshire. We also specialise in corporate entertainment events, with our spacious boathouse and stunning lunch hut being ideal venues.
Meikleour & Upper Islamouth beat, best known as Meikleour Fishings, offers the ultimate salmon fishing experience on 1.7 miles of the stunning River Tay for up to 8 anglers . We have two boats with personal ghillie (up to two anglers can fish on one boat) and up to 4 anglers can fish from the bank. If you are a beginner or lack confidence on a big river like the Tay, we recommend booking a boat with our hugely experienced ghillie. With enough notice we can also arrange for a fly fishing instructor. The season runs from 15th of January to 15th of October. Salmon and Sea Trout Fishing is illegal on Sunday in Scotland.
Meikleour Fishings is 100% Catch and Release and is proud to work in collaboration with several environmental charities.
For the best experience we only allow 8 anglers fishing per day (2 from each boat and 4 for the river banks)
