Castles
Perthshire is steeped in history, offering access to some of Scotland’s most fabulous royal residences and castles. We are close to several iconic sites, including Scone Palace (the crowning place of Scottish kings), Glamis Castle (childhood home of The Queen Mother), and the magnificent Blair Atholl Castle. You can also find the atmospheric ruins of Kinclaven Castle close to the Meikleour Fishings beat. These historic sites offer fascinating days out, allowing you to walk in the footsteps of royalty and immerse yourself in Scotland’s turbulent past.

Distilleries
Perthshire is home to some of the world’s most famous distilleries, allowing you to discover more about the craft behind Scotland’s national drink. Famous distilleries nearby include Dewar’s Aberfeldy, which we highly recommend, and where Meikleour guests can often secure a 20% discount on guided tours. You can also visit other historic distilleries like Blair Athol and Edradour in nearby Pitlochry, or Glenturret (Scotland’s oldest working distillery) in Crieff. Whether you are a connoisseur or a curious novice, booking a tour and tasting provides a wonderfully memorable experience of the Highlands’ fascinating whisky culture.
